Celebrate National Banana Day at the Zoo
In celebration of National Banana Day, Banana Loca, a new kitchen gadget that cores and fills bananas, is sponsoring a banana-themed event at Franklin Park Zoo’s Tropical Forest.Banana Loca is donating a year’s worth of bananas to baby Pablo and his gorilla family, as well as to the other banana-loving animals throughout the zoo. The Dorchester Running Club is pitching in and helping clean up the DCR Neponset Trail Route on Saturday, April 17th at 9am at the Joseph Finnegan Park (aka the Port). Trash bags, trash tongs, rakes, shovels, gloves, hand sanitizer, and bug spray will be provided. DCR suggests bringing masks, hats, sunscreen, water, snacks — and any favorite work gloves! Long pants and closed-toed shoes are recommended for terrain and poison ivy. Kids are welcome too. You can register here! You can also volunteer to clean different sections of the trail too.
