National Ice Cream Day

Sunday is National Ice Cream Day so have some ice cream in Southie! Here’s our roundup of places to enjoy ice cream in the neighborhood!

Dorchester Brewing Co. is turning 3

Dorchester Brewing Co. has been turning out delicious craft beer in the neighborhood for three years! DBCO will be celebrating on Saturday, July 20th with a day long event of fun, food, live music, and of course, beer! The fun goes from 11:30am-11pm. There is no cover charge! With a new expansion on the way, let’s celebrate how far DBCO has come and how much fun they’ve added to our neighborhood! You can check out the lineup here! 

Neponset RiverFest

On Saturday, July 20th head to Neponset Park (at the corner of Granite Ave. and Hilltop St.) from 10am – 2pm.  Celebrate the Neponset River and the beautiful parks and pedestrian paths along the shore, along with the natural salt marshes and wetlands that support more than 200 species of birds, fish and other wildlife. Bring a blanket and a picnic, and spend the day! Try out a kayak or canoe courtesy of Paddle Boston, explore a tidepool with the New England Aquarium, have a WILD time with Zoo New England or attend a fishing clinic with the Mass Division of Fisheries & Wildlife. There will be food trucks, live music and arts and crafts as well as the spray park for the kids to cool off. Bring your bikes and go for a cruise along the protected paths of the riverway. This is a family-friendly, public event. For more information visit here!

Pear Square Art Fair

Enjoy an afternoon of art, music, food and fun on Saturday, July 20th from 12pm-8pm at Richardson Park – right near the giant pear sculpture at columbia Road and East Cottage Street. Browse 14+ local art vendors featuring fused glass, leatherwork, painting and more! There will also be live pop, rock, and world music performances!The event is sponsored by the Dorchester Historical Society, Dorchester North Neighborhood Association, Oleana Foundation and the Networking Organization of Vietnamese-Americans.

JFK SPACE FEST 2019

On Saturday, head to the JFK Library for a Space Festival to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. The day will include special activities and guest speaker presentations for visitors of all ages.  10am-4pm.  You can learn more here!

Cool off indoors

It’s going to be hot, hot, hot, this weekend!  Visit friend of Caught in Dot, Peter Dziedzic at the Polish American Club on Sunday!  He’ll be tending bar all day on Sunday!  Ice cold beer and air conditioning!  Count us in!
