Winter Bird Stroll at Castle Island
Calling all bird lovers! Take a winter bird stroll at Castle Island with Nature Man Mike on Sunday, January 26th from 8:30am-10:30am. Winter is a great time to see various migratory waterfowl at Castle Island. It’s one of Mike’s favortie spots for winter birding in Boston! Expect to walk up to 2 miles on paved paths. Dress warm. It can be very cold and windy during this time. This event is accessible. Porta potties are available. Limited loaner binoculars will be available on a first come, first served basis. This is a free event, but registration is required. You can register here.

Organized by the Codman Square Health Center, BOLD Teens, and the Codman Square Neighborhood Council, the Dorchester Winter Farmers Market is the only winter market in Dorchester and is a great place to buy farm fresh produce, baked goods, meat, specialty foods from local producers, art, and craft items. Knitting 101 at Stitch House
If you have no knitting experience, or learned long ago and need a refresher, then Knit 101 is for you! In this class you’ll learn the basics – cast-on, knit, purl, and bind-off. We will also teach you about the importance of gauge and blocking, to set you on the path to success! Saturdays, from 10-12 pm. With the help of the instructor, you will choose and start a simple project before the end of the session. You may repeat this class 3 times. Sign up here.
