Enjoy a neighborhood sip and shop at 224 Boston on Wednesday, November 13th from 6pm-9pm. Beauty Counter, Camden Hydes, Habit, Maayssa Schneider, Wears + Wares, Wolfie’s Dog Treats, and 4103 Designs will be set up for some shopping!

Register to Run

Register for the Halfway to Dot Day 5K and Toy Drive! This is a family friendly run for all ages and abilities along the paths of DCR’s Pope John Paul Park in Dorchester on Saturday, December 14th at 9am. The course is certified and sanctioned by USA Track and Field – New England.  After the race, please join us for the Mayor’s Toy Drive and breakfast at Florian Hall. All youth under 12 who donate a toy are registered at no cost. Registration for adults and teenagers is just $20.  Make sure you register in time for a long sleeve t-shirt!   You can register here! 

Barbara Colby Playground is now open

Take a little time this week to check out the new Barbara Colby Playground at Tenean Beach. The $350,000 renovation by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) includes new and improved play equipment that sits on higher ground.

Pope John Paul II Park Meeting

Speaking of new parks….The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is holding a public meeting on Thursday, November 14th at 6pm at the Leahy Holloran Community Center to seek community input and present the conceptual design plans for reconstruction of Pope John Paul II Park playground. The playground has been fenced off since early September.  You can learn more here! 

Friends of Elaine Connolly Host Inaugural Benefit for Kidney Cancer

On September 9, 2018, Elaine Connolly, a resident of Weymouth, originally from Dorchester, and adopted daughter of South Boston, passed away from metastatic kidney cancer. In an effort to work through their grief, honor Elaine and her spirit, and help others suffering from this disease, her family has partnered with the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center to establish the Elaine M. Connolly Kidney Cancer Fund. Money raised through this foundation will be directed toward expanding kidney cancer research, providing additional patient services, and raising awareness of a disease that affects 75,000 Americans annually. The Friends of Elaine Connolly are hosting the Inaugural Evening for the Elaine M. Connolly Kidney Cancer Fund to benefit the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center Thursday, November 14, from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. at Granite Links.
