Thousands of hand-painted rocks were placed along the front of Florian Hall on Sunday morning. The Hallet Street firefighter union hall will host the wake for Dorchester native and former NHL player Jimmy Hayes who passed away suddenly last week.
Maggie Moran from the Ambrose Angels has organized the effort of having local youth organizations plus friends and neighbors create these beautiful works of art.
Hayes wake will take place on Sunday at Florian Hall via O’Connor and Sons Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-8pm. Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Neponset, Monday morning at 10 o’clock. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Dorchester Youth Hockey c/o Phil Olsen, 38 Laban Pratt Rd., Dorchester, MA 02122, in memory of Jimmy.

Hayes leaves behind a wife, Kristen, and two sons: Beau, 2, and Mac, three months. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
