A 9-alarm fire swept through a neighborhood destroying eight homes last Saturday afternoon. The fire began at about 4:45 p.m. at 39 Old Morton St. which was a vacant house under construction. Thanks to high winds, the blaze quickly jumped to seven more houses.
Some neighbors have organized fundraisers to help those displaced. You can make a donation here for the Nguyen’s. The Lower Mills Civic Association are hoping to raise $20,000. You can make a donation here.
Special Community Event
The Lower Mills Civic Association has also organized a fundraiser for Saturday, July 27th from 5pm-8pm at the St. Gregory’s Auditorium, located behind the John Paul II Academy Lower Mills Campus. Mix and mingle with friends and neighbors. Enjoy food, music, raffles, all for a great cause! Tickets are $25 and can be purchased here!
