A new residential building has been proposed on Columbia Road behind Fox Hall.

A letter of intent has been filed with the Boston Planning and Development Agency to build a four-to-six story building in a parking lot located behind Fox Hall.  This project would include an upgrade for occupants of 15 single-room-occupancy units to a new studio apartment. It would be a “development without displacement.”

Current SRO (Single Room Occupancy) residents would get to stay in their current units until the new building is finished. Then residents would be offered studios at the new building. The developer would then renovate Fox Hall’s upper floors. The additional building and subsequent renovation of the existing building would create 72 new residential units,”100% of which will be deed-restricted for a variety of income levels in a true mixed-income program.”

There would also be on-site parking for 24 cars and bicycle storage in addition to a new pedestrian connectivity and public realm upgrades.
