Dorchester Winter Farmers Market
Organized by the Codman Square Health Center, BOLD Teens, and the Codman Square Neighborhood Council, the Dorchester Winter Farmers Market is the only winter market in Dorchester and is a great place to buy farm fresh produce, baked goods, meat, specialty foods from local producers, art, and craft items. January 24th – March 14th on Saturdays from 11 am – 2 pm at The Great Hall (6 Norfolk St. Dorchester, MA 02124) You can learn more here.

Yin Yoga + Sound Bath Workshop at Open Doors
Open Doors Dorchester Yin Yoga and Sound Bath Workshop with Courtney, Carolyn, and Amy is back! The Yin class will be a call to pause in January and takes place on Sunday, January 25th from 6:30pm-8pm. Settle into deep stillness with this extended Yin practice designed to unwind layers of tension in the body and mind. You’ll move through long-held, floor-based postures to gently open the connective tissues and calm the nervous system. The class will be accompanied by a soothing sound bath—inviting deep rest, balance, and renewal. Aromatherapy to support healthy lungs and all props will be provided. Cost is $50. Winter Bird Stroll at Castle Island – POSTPONED UNTIL FEB. 7th
Calling all bird lovers! Take a winter bird stroll at Castle Island with Nature Man Mike on Sunday, January 25th from 8:30am-10:30am. Winter is a great time to see various migratory waterfowl at Castle Island. It’s one of Mike’s favortie spots for winter birding in Boston! Expect to walk up to 2 miles on paved paths. Dress warm. It can be very cold and windy during this time. This event is accessible. Porta potties are available. Limited loaner binoculars will be available on a first come, first served basis. Knitting 101 at Stitch House
If you have no knitting experience, or learned long ago and need a refresher, then Knit 101 is for you! In this class you’ll learn the basics – cast-on, knit, purl, and bind-off. We will also teach you about the importance of gauge and blocking, to set you on the path to success! Saturdays, from 10-12 pm. The showrooms at Machine Age, home to hundreds of carefully preserved vintage furniture and décor pieces, are set to shutter as owner Normand Mainville prepares for retirement. The shop, located at 121 Boston Street on the Dorchester/South Boston line, was originally expected to close in November 2025, but steady interest from customers has kept it open into early 2026. Last day to shop is Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. — or by appointment via phone or email. Everything currently in the store is marked down 40 percent, offering one last opportunity to score a unique piece of design history before the doors finally close.
