Ugly Sweater Parties

There are plenty of opportunities to let your ugliest holiday sweater shine bright this weekend. The Harp + Bard’s 10th annual ugly sweater party takes place Friday evening at 8pm with proceeds benefiting the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester. On Saturday, the Bowery Bar will have bells jingling for their ugly sweater Christmas brunch from 10am to 3pm. And on Sunday morning, you can get sweaty at Harpoon’s Sweaty Sweater 5k.

Dorchester Champions Parade

This Saturday, join the neighborhood in celebrating the historic wins of the Dorchester Elite Eagles and Boston Raiders Cheerleaders at a special champions parade. Bundle up and grab a seat along the parade route Saturday starting at 2pm at TechBoston Academy and traveling down Talbot Ave. to the Blue Hills Boys and Girls Club.

The Nutcracker at The Strand

Only a few weekends remain to see José Mateo’s interpretation of The Nutcracker at Dorchester’s Strand Theater. Named one of Boston’s Best Family-Friendly Shows, you can catch performances of the holiday classic on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with tickets starting at $25.

Gingerbread House Building

The Lower Mills branch of the Boston Public Library will host its annual Gingerbread house event on Saturday from 10am to 12pm. Kids and families are invited to come in and make a holiday masterpiece to take home. Registration is required.

Boston Tea Party Reenactment 

The city will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party this weekend with a series of reenactments and celebrations on Friday and Saturday evenings downtown. Experience what it was like to hear news of the tea crisis, debate, and join in the protest at Griffin’s Wharf. The Boston Tea Party Museum is also offering free admission on Sunday on a first-come, first-served basis. Here are some more celebrations happening around Boston.

Vietnamese Community Healing

A new art project in Boston’s Little Saigon will open in 2025, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. This Saturday, join in the first of many community convenings at VietAID in Dorchester from 12pm to 2pm. The event will feature food and refreshments as well as Vietnamese interpretations.

Kids’ Holiday Ornament Making

Join Seven Hills Pasta Co. at the Boston Public Market for a fun morning of ornament making where kids ages 3-12 can color pasta, learn about different pasta shapes, and make their own pasta garlands and ornaments. Tickets are $10 and include a live pasta-making demonstration and of course, tasting.

10th Annual Holiday Skate at Chez Vous

Get ready to lace up your skates at Chez Vous roller skating rink for their Elf on the Shelf holiday skate party. The 18+ event takes place Sunday evening from 8pm to 12am.
