Dorchester Historical Home Tour

History buffs won’t want to miss a special chance to explore inside two of Dorchester’s most iconic homes. On Sunday from 11am to 3pm the William Clapp House and the James Blake House will be open for free public tours. Ashmont Friday Market

Greater Ashmont Main Street founded the Ashmont Friday Market (originally the Ashmont Farmers Market) in 2008. Since then, the Market has become a beloved Dorchester Institution each Friday in Peabody Square from 2pm-6pm.  Enjoy live music, fresh produce, prepared foods, and activities for all ages!  This fun neighborhood event takes place at the Ashmont MBTA Plaza.

The 2024 Boston Triathlon Weekend

The 2024 Boston Triathlon weekend takes place on Saturday, August 17th, and Sunday, August 18th at Carson Beach/Day Boulevard. Kids Day at the Boston Tri takes place on Saturday. The Boston Tri Olympic and sprint distance races will be held on Sunday morning and are open to all, followed by the professional spectator event – supertri Boston! BRL Summer Showcase

Beats, Rhymes and Life (BRL) is a hip hop group therapy program at Children’s Services of Roxbury (CSR) that uses the power of storytelling, collaboration, and music production to build resiliency, reduce trauma, and amplify the voices of young people. The group will host their Summer 2024 Showcase featuring performances from Boston’s youth who participated in the program, along with fun audience engagement activities. The free, all-ages event takes place at the Strand Theatre in Dorchester on Friday from 5pm to 7pm.

Synagogues of Dorchester, Roxbury, and Mattapan

Have you ever wondered why there are so many churches in Mattapan that used to be synagogues? Learn about the history of these buildings, and others at The Synagogues of Dorchester, Roxbury, and Mattapan event hosted by the Boston Public Library. Dorchester native Jeffrey Calish will describe the movement of Boston’s Jewish population to and from Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan over the last 150 years and will chronicle the history of the synagogues that served the many congregations. The free lecture will take place Saturday from 2pm to 3pm at the Mattapan branch. Registration is encouraged.

Annual Multicultural Festival

The Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative’s Annual Multicultural Festival is a day of diverse music, food, and fun at Mary Hannon Park on Saturday from 12pm to 5pm. The event will be filled with cultural performances, delicious food trucks, artisans showcasing their crafts, and much more in celebration of 40 years of service to the diverse local community. Admission is free and open to all.

Revamp & Refresh Summer Fitness & Fun

Get ready to move, groove, and cool down with a fun twist! Join Revamp Training and Slushy Lady Boston for a dynamic fitness event in Dorchester this Saturday at Reverend Loesch Family Park. The event will include yoga, stretching, dancing, and a strength workout, all designed to get your heart pumping and muscles flexing. Connect with like-minded fitness enthusiasts from the Dorchester-Greater Ashmont community, soak up the summer vibes, and leave feeling revitalized and ready to conquer the rest of your summer!

Drag Queen Bingo at DBCo!

Come join in for a fabulous afternoon of bingo with a twist! Drag queen and fan-favorite host, the amazing Alana Thicc, will SLAY while we PLAY, all for a great cause: supporting the American Liver Foundation. The event will be held at Dorchester Brewing Company on Sunday from 1pm to 3pm. Grab your friends and get ready for some laughter, prizes and unforgettable fun! A limited number of tickets are remaining and advance registration is encouraged. Admission is $40 per person. Author’s note: this event is a charity fundraiser hosted by myself and my teammate Michael as we are training to take on the New York City Marathon this fall.

Free Summer Fitness Bootcamp

This free summer bootcamp is designed to develop muscular strength, increase endurance and improve agility. The 45-minute routine led by Coach Trevor is a total body workout. The class takes place on Sunday from 9am to 10am at Iacono Playground in Dorchester. No equipment is needed but don’t forget your water!
