Weekend Picks filled with fun stuff to do in the neighborhood

Carbo-load

In celebration of the Boston Marathon, we’re carbo-loading away around Dorchester!  Check out our favorite pasta dishes in the neighborhood here!

Pitch in. Choose kindness.

The Bowery Bar and Lucy’s American Tavern will have donation boxes leading up to the Boston Marathon to collect items needed for the Spring Service Day for Martin Richard Foundation. On service day, volunteers will create “Emergency Hero Kits” for Wonderland for children who enter DCF foster care with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Kindly drop off night lights, earbud headphones and stuffed animals!  Treat yourself to this month’s charity cocktail that benefits MR8!

Get Outside!

Dorchester is Boston’s largest neighborhood so there are plenty of ways to get outside now that the weather is getting warmer. We’ve rounded up our favorite places and activities to get you outside!  Check them out here!

Volunteers Needed!

Help beautify the Neponset River, streams and parks! Volunteers wanted to help with cleanup on Saturday, April 27th!  You can register here!  Become a volunteer and join NepRWA staff and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) for Park Serve Day, a statewide service day that helps get our parks and open spaces ready for the summer season!  You can select the site where you’d like to help clean up including Lower Mills and Tenean Beach.  You can see the full list here!

Cocktails and tours!

The pre-Civil War era historical building in Port Norfolk now houses Boston Harbor Distillery and has a tasting room, distilling facility, event space and a bar that will mix you up a delicious cocktail during tours on Saturdays 12-8pm. Let’s go! Check out our video out our trip to Boston Harbor Distillery!
