Haul out the Holly! Want to get in the Christmas spirit? Head to dbar on Tuesday for their Holiday Show Tunes Spectacular on Tuesday, December 18th from 9pm-2am with VJ Ryan Grow!

Jingle & Mingle! On Wednesday, December 19th from 5-9pm, The Barking Crab presents the second annual Jingle & Mingle event to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester. This seasonal soiree will transform The Crabby Lounge into a winter wonderland complete with creative ice sculptures, festive décor and a sleigh full of holiday surprises (including photos with Santa Claus himself)!  Each $40 ticket includes two drink tickets, dinner, live music, silent auction, fun games, a seasonal photo booth to snap all your holiday cheer and more. Guests can also take a turn at a signature ice luge sculpture!  Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.  All proceeds will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester through the Rodman Ride for Kids and be eligible for up to a 3% match!

Goodbye plastic bags! Last year, Mayor Marty Walsh officially signed the plastic bag ban ordinance banning single-use plastic shopping bags in the City of Boston. So what does this mean? Well, it means, you’ll either need to be bring reusable bags when you go to the supermarket or you’ll be charged a nickel (minimum fee) for one. Also, plastic bags less than 3 millimeters thick will be banned. A five cent minimum fee will be charged for bags provided at checkout; those bags must meet requirements of being reusable, recyclable or compostable.

See a classic! Now in its 33rd season, José Mateo Ballet Theatre presents its treasured production of The Nutcracker at The Strand Theatre through December 23rd. Artistic Director José Mateo honors the tradition of The Nutcracker while giving new life to Clara’s dream world with a fresh innovative approach to the iconic holiday classic featuring festive sets, sumptuous costumes, and spectacular dancing.
