A UMass Boston student from Kansas City reportedly spent spring break not relaxing, but instead tossing Molotov cocktails at Cybertrucks. According to Universal Hub, 19-year-old Owen McIntire took a break from the Columbia Point campus last month, headed home to Missouri, and allegedly decided to light up a couple of Teslas at a dealership using homemade firebombs.
Federal agents say McIntire used empty apple cider vinegar bottles filled with gasoline, added a rag, and chucked them at two Tesla trucks late on March 17. A police officer passing by spotted smoke and found one of the bottles still burning but mostly intact.
Authorities arrested McIntire on the Dorchester campus on Friday and charged the student with possession of an unregistered destructive device and malicious damage by fire to property used in interstate commerce.
Investigators also combed through UMass swipe-card records and dining hall logs to confirm McIntire wasn’t anywhere near Boston during the alleged truck roasting.
Umass Boston alerted the campus about the incident. You can read the letter here.
