Taco Time

If you live in Savin Hill and like tacos, you’ll love this news.  Savin Bar + Kitchen has officially opened a taqueria and tequila bar called Ghost Pepper Tac + Tequila Bar right next door on Savin Hill Ave.  The new hot spot will start with serving dinner with plans to have brunch soon after. Ghost Pepper Taco + Tequila Bar; 120 Savin Hill Ave.; Sundays–Thursdays from 3 p.m.–10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 3 p.m.–11 p.m.; ghostpepperboston.com

Save the Date

It’s the 18th Annual Neponset Pumpkin Float is coming up!  Bring a pumpkin to Pope John Paul II Park on Thursday, October 22nd at 5:30pm for an evening of family fun!  This wildly popular family event encourages you to bring a 6-8 inch hollow & carved pumpkin to the event. Each jack-o-lantern will have a candle inserted and lit before being launched en-mass in the water at 6pm.  Floats and candles will be provided.  Registration starts at 5:30pm. Free hot chocolate and candy treats will also be provided. The event is free and open to the public.  This is the 18th year of this Dorchester tradition when hundreds of kids in costumes and their families participate in the floating parade of pumpkins!  This is event is presented by the DCR and the Neponset River Greenway Council!

Boston Winery Pig Roast 

This festival marks the celebration of this years harvest and production! As always there will be great music, great food, great wine, and most importantly great people! Boston Winery will be serving fresh pasta, salad, artisinal breads, and of course Chef Gianni Caruso’s porquetta, as well as a complimentary drink ticket!  This fun and delicious event takes place on Saturday, October 13th from 12pm-4pm.  Tickets are $50.   You can get your tickets here! 

New Charity Cocktail

Well, drink to that!  For the month of October, Lucy’s American Tavern and The Bowery Bar are mixing up a cocktail to do good in the neighborhood!  This month’s cocktail is the Night in Blue made with Triple Eight Blueberry Vodka, lemon, mint syrup, seltzer.  A portion of the proceeds will go to Boston Police Activities League.  https://bostonpal.org

Dot Jazz Series

The Greater Ashmont Main Street present an awesome jazz series every month! On Thursday, October 10 at 7pm,  the Dot Jazz Series will feature The Fred Woodard Collective. Guitarist Fred Woodard is a veteran of Boston’s jazz scene as well as the presenter behind The Dudley Jazz Festival. He’s joined by his son Frederick on violin, Melvin Graham on bass and Matthew Williams on drums. Fred described the band’s music as “straight-ahead jazz spiced with R&B.” The Dot Jazz Series, a collaborative project of Mandorla Music and Greater Ashmont Main Street, brings live jazz to the neighborhood!  How great is that!
