At about 7:58 PM, on Monday, April 14, 2025, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Omar Stephenson, 38, of Dorchester, on various firearm charges.
Officers responded to the area of 9 Capen Place for a report of a fight. Officers were advised that the suspect tried to fight two victims before fleeing the scene in a motor vehicle. Officers began to search the area for the vehicle and were advised by Boston Police Operations that a call came in for shots fired at 33 Capen Street.
Officers were advised that the suspect was inside a vehicle, and fired a shot, before fleeing. As officers were responding to the call, they observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle turn onto Norfolk Street.
Officers immediately activated their marked cruisers’ emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. Officers were able to stop the vehicle in the area of Stanton Street. Officers ordered the suspect to exit the vehicle, and conducted a pat frisk. Officers quickly recovered a firearm from inside the vehicle. The firearm was later determined to be a Smith & Wesson Revolver with four rounds in the chamber and one spent shell casing.
Stephenson was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the following charges:
- Carrying a Firearm Without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
- Possession of a Firearm Without an FID Card
- Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
