Universal Hub is reporting the Zoning Board of Appeal unanimously approved a plan proposed by the Gavin Foundation of South Boston to turn the former St. Gregory convent located at 2200 Dorchester Ave. in Lower Mills into a 30-bed halfway house for women trying to recover from substance abuse.
It is expected that the women accepted into this program will spend four to six months as residents in treatment plus be taught skills to find jobs upon completion. The center will be have around the clock staffing – with five full-time workers during the day, three in the evening and two overnight.
The exterior of the convent will stay the same all the renovation work will be done inside. You can read the full details here!
