From BPD News:
At about 4:25 PM on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for multiple shots fired in the area of Edson Street in Dorchester.
While on approach, officers observed a fleeing motor vehicle operating erratically as it attempted to pass several motor vehicles on the left side. As the officers made a U-turn to conduct a traffic stop, they received information from the 911 dispatcher that the same vehicle had just crashed into a wall at the intersection of Woodrow Avenue and Tucker Street.
Officers canvassed the area and soon located the now unoccupied vehicle in the area of 17 Lauriat Street and observed the male suspect, later identified as Jermaine Daye, 32, of Fitchburg, manipulating his waist band while fleeing on foot. Mr. Daye was apprehended in the rear of 45 Callender Street where officers located a silver and black firearm that had been discarded. The firearm was determined to be a loaded .45 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun with one round remaining in the magazine. The suspect was placed in custody without further incident.
After further investigation, officers were made aware of ballistic damage to a home and several motor vehicles on Edson Street. Officers later received information that an adult male victim had self-applied to a local area hospital suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. It was determined the victim was injured while in the area of 37 Edson Street.
Jermaine Daye will be charged with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (to Wit Firearm), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Firearm Discharged Within 500 Feet of Dwelling and Trespassing. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
