Dorchester’s Mayoral Race Has Gone to the Dogs—Literally
Dorchester has a new candidate for Mayor of Dorchester, and he’s got quite the following. Walter, a 10-year-old golden retriever, is officially in the race, and his campaign is picking up steam.
His owner and campaign manager, Jenna Taylor, a Boston realtor and Walter’s campaign manager, told Mass Live that the response has been overwhelming. “It’s kind of blowing up,” she told MassLive. And given how much Dorchester loves its dogs, that’s not too surprising.
The honorary mayor title doesn’t come with real political power, but it does celebrate community spirit and helps raise funds for the Dot Day Parade, which takes place on Sunday, June 1st.
With growing support and a strong grassroots campaign (or should we say, grass-sniffing campaign), Walter is shaping up to be a serious contender.
Make sure to follow Walter on Instagram to see what he’s up to on the campaign trail.
