From BPD News:

On Thursday, April 3, 2025, Officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested a 17-year-old male from Dorchester on multiple firearm-related charges following a traffic stop in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road.

Around 9:00 PM, Officers observed a vehicle with an obstructed license plate and conducted a registration query, which revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen. Officers alerted Operations and requested additional units to assist with a safe stop.

As officers monitored the vehicle, it suddenly accelerated at a high rate of speed after turning onto Sunderland Street and later Warren Street. Officers notified Operations of the vehicle’s attempt to flee but did not initiate a pursuit out of concern for public safety. Instead, they continued to monitor the vehicle from a safe distance until it came to an abrupt stop near 10 Holborn Street.

At that location, Officers observed two individuals exit the vehicle. As the passenger exited, Officers noted he kept both hands inside the front pocket of his sweatshirt and attempted to flee on foot. Officers quickly apprehended him and observed him trying to discard a firearm beneath a nearby parked vehicle. After a brief struggle, the suspect was taken into custody and the firearm was safely recovered.

The firearm was identified as a .32 Smith & Wesson revolver, chambered in .38 caliber, loaded with five rounds. The serial number had been obliterated.

The 17-year-old juvenile was arrested and will face arraignment in Boston Municipal Court on the following charges:

  • Delinquent to Wit: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
  • Delinquent to Wit: Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
  • Delinquent to Wit: Possession of a Firearm with Defaced Serial Number
  • Delinquent to Wit: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Second Offense
