The Boston Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred in Dorchester in May 2023.

On Monday, May 22, 2023, at approximately 4:57 PM, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) and District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 264 Columbia Road. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim, Daniel T. Mayers, 33, of Haverhill, was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Following an extensive investigation, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at approximately 2:35 PM, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit arrested 21-year-old Amari Williams, of Acada, Georgia, at Boston Police Headquarters. Williams was taken into custody on an arrest warrant charging him with the following offenses:

  • Murder
  • Carrying a Firearm Without a License

Williams is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court.
