A Dorchester man faces additional charges in connection to the mass shooting that took place the morning of the Caribbean Festival.

According to BPD, Gerald Vick, 30, of Dorchester, has been charged with shooting six of the eight victims early on Saturday, August 26th.  Last week, Vick was held on multiple illegal gun possession charges, including possession of a machine gun, according to court records, but he was not then charged with firing a weapon during the gunfight.

After taking Vick into custody, BPD discovered a 9mm pistol with a large capacity magazine — equipped with a “Glock switch” that enables the gun to fire continuously. The gun was linked to the shooting on August 26th.

Vick is scheduled to appear in Dorchester District Court on September 8, 2023.
