It’s not every day you see a deer in the city, but on Tuesday morning, one was spotted on Dot Ave near Columbia Road, right near the Banshee, blocking rush-hour traffic. BFD was called to the scene to help move the deer along…people gotta get to work!
Boston Fire, in turn, requested help from Animal Control to get traffic moving.
Dorchester is no stranger to wildlife. We’ve got it all. Coyotes, turkeys, seals, bald eagles and more!
Not that long ago, a deer was terrorizing the streets of South Boston.
Here’s the deer – looks like a fawn or a teenage deer to us, but we’re no experts! Special thank you to Rich and Lisa for sending us the photo!

Hi my husband saw the deer yesterday morning going up Elder St towards Columbia Rd! I called Animal Control re advice, and they sd they are not allowed (by law) to pick it up/ move it ( I was concerned for its safety), and to just let it go. My husband is sending you a picture.
