It’s official! The National Women’s Soccer League will expand the league’s franchise to Boston in 2026. The last time we had a women’s soccer team was the Boston Breakers way back in 2018.  It’s estimated that the new women’s team will spend $100 million to get ready! Another motivating factor for the Boston team? They’ll be playing at the new and improved White Stadium in Franklin Park.

Back in April, the City of Boston issued a request for proposals for the renovation of White Stadium with the goal of creating a state-of-the-art facility for BPS student-athletes.  The 10,000-seat space would also become the home stadium for the new Boston women’s soccer team!

Mayor Wu and the City have planned a celebration on Tuesday afternoon at City Hall Plaza.
