The Family Dollar at 995 Blue Hill Avenue was shut down Thursday by City Health Division inspectors—and for good reason. The store racked up a long list of code violations, including a rat problem so bad they were literally munching on food right off the shelves. If that wasn’t enough, inspectors also found a couple of feet of stagnant water just hanging out in the basement. It’s definitely not what you want to see during your snack run.

City officials were alerted after several complaints, 311 reports, and maybe even this post on Instagram.

The store is closed until violations are corrected, a hearing is requested, and the store passes a follow-up inspection.  Could be up to five days or more.

Wow. Are you the first to hear that most of Dorchester and Boston is filled with more rats than people? Check 311 reports and see that there are many reports and the city is doing nothing about it. SInce the city is doing nothing, rats are size of cats. There are groups of 7-40 rats running around.

I don’t think I’m the first to hear. I’m just reporting on a neighborhood news story. Yes, there are rats all over. I’m very aware.
