A new recreational marijuana shop could be opening at 33 Hancock Street (currently the Kriola restaurant).
Benjamin Virga has entered into a purchase and sales agreement with the current owner of 33 Hancock St. Back in May, Virga applied for a change of use from a restaurant to a recreational cannabis dispensary for the 33 to 37 Hancock St. property. The application was initially denied but Virga then filed an appeal with the Zoning Board of Appeal. The community process has began and Virga will speak with the Hancock Street Civic Association meeting on Thursday, July 19th from 7pm to 8:30 p.m. at 530 Columbia Rd.
In other pot shop news, back in February, the City of Boston’s Board of Appeals approved a new medical marijuana dispensary called Natural Selections for 50 Clapp Street in Dorchester.
Holistic Health Group is hoping to open an adult use recreational cannabis shop at 1584 Dorchester Ave. The potential owner of the shop has started the process of reaching out to local elected officials and civic groups looking for approval.
Both medical and recreational marijuana are legal in the city of Boston, so it’s should be no surprise that pot businesses will be growing (no pun intended) in local neighborhoods.
