From Mass State Police News

At approximately 11:30 a.m. yesterday a Trooper assigned to the Troop H Community Action Team was on patrol traveling on Route 93 southbound in Boston. At that time he observed a blue Subaru sedan with a defective headlight. He activated his emergency lights and stopped the vehicle on Route 93 southbound South of Exit 15.

Upon the Subaru coming to a stop the Trooper approached it and identified the operator as VLADIMIR SOTO-PEREZ, 28, of Boston. After informing SOTO-PEREZ why he was stopped the Trooper requested his license and registration. It was discovered that SOTO-PEREZ did not possess a driver’s license and was removed from the vehicle. A tow truck was requested in order to remove the Subaru at which point the Trooper began an inventory of its contents. During the inventory the Trooper discovered a fast food drinking cup with a large number of baggies inside containing substances suspected to be both heroin and cocaine. SOTO-PEREZ was immediately placed under arrest and placed in the rear of a cruiser.

Upon the completion of the inventory SOTO-PEREZ was transported to State Police-South Boston for booking. A total of 69 baggies were located containing 84 grams of a substance suspected to be heroin, 12 grams of a substance suspected to be crack cocaine, and 6 grams of a substance suspected to be powder cocaine. The Trooper also located several items consistent with the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics. A bail commissioner was contacted and set bail at $50,000. SOTO-PEREZ was scheduled for arraignment at Dorchester District Court on the following charges:

  1. Trafficking in Heroin;
  2. Trafficking in Cocaine;
  3. Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute;
  4. Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle; and
  5. Headlight Violation.
