Juniper Fest

Here’s a sweet way to help a local dog in need! Juniper Fest is happening Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, in Dorchester to raise money for Juniper, a nearly 2-year-old dog diagnosed with dysplasia in both elbows. The two-day backyard music festival will feature a packed lineup of local talent, including Westwater, Evan Greer, Oompa, Anju, Cliff Notez, and more. The fun runs from 6pm–11:30pm on Friday and noon–11:30pm on Saturday, with live music, DJ sets, dog-themed games, movie screenings, a “bondfire,” birthday cake, and a few surprises along the way.  Learn more here. 

History in Motion – Canceled due to weather

USS Constitution is scheduled to get underway on Friday, September 25th from Charlestown Navy Yard at 10:00 A.M. The cruise will be visible from the Boston Harborwalk, Castle Island, and Charlestown Navy Yard. A 21-gun salute will be fired at approximately 11:30 A.M., viewable from Fort Independence on Castle Island. This will be followed by a 17-gun salute in front of the US Coast Guard Base around 12:25pm. While you’re out there, you might as well grab lunch at Sully’s, right?

Comfort Kitchen Book Talk

Comfort Kitchen in Upham’s Corner is hosting an event that connects perfectly with the history of its unique home. On Saturday, September 26, from 1pm–3pm, author and historian Bryant Simon will stop by to discuss his new book, For Customers Only: Public Bathrooms and the Making of American Inequality. Comfort Kitchen is located at 611 Columbia Road inside a former public “comfort station” built in 1912. Simon’s book explores the history of public bathrooms in America and how access to them has been connected to larger issues of race, class, gender, and inequality. The event is presented in partnership with JustBook-ish and will also feature Lisa Lewis of Historic Boston Incorporated, who will share more about the history and preservation of the building. Free Fall Fitness

The Boston Parks and Recreation Department and Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) today announced the 2026 Boston Parks Fall Fitness Series, sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.
