5 Things You Should Know This Week – May 11th

Eat well. Give back. Celebrate Dorchester

Looking for a good excuse to grab dinner or a drink in Dorchester? Dine Out DOT is a new fundraising incentive,  giving neighbors the chance to support local restaurants while also helping raise money for the beloved Dorchester Day Parade. Organizers say the fundraiser is all about celebrating the neighborhood and shining a spotlight on the restaurants that help make Dorchester such a vibrant community. Participating restaurants will support parade fundraising efforts over the next few weeks, so every meal out helps give back.  Takes place May 7-31st! Get all the details here!

Coming soon to the Neighborhood: Panda Express

Looks like a new fast-casual spot is headed to South Bay! According to Boston Restaurant Talk, a Licensing Board agenda notes the new restaurant will feature seating for 67 people across multiple rooms inside the 3,600-square-foot space at 5 District Ave. Outdoor seating does not appear to be part of the plan. The upcoming Dorchester location will join other local Panda Express restaurants in places like Boston, Medford, Dedham, Westwood, and Walpole. The former tenant, Wahlburgers — founded by Dorchester brothers Mark, Donnie, and Paul Wahlberg — still has area locations in Fenway, Logan Airport, and Hingham.
