Free Summer Concert Series Returns to City of Boston’s Golf Courses July 9

The Boston Parks and Recreation Department’s live music offerings continue in 2025 with a series of Wednesday evening summer concerts on the patios at the City of Boston’s two golf course clubhouses. Enjoy a variety of musical styling from a lineup of local artists at the George Wright Golf Course Clubhouse at 420 West Street in Hyde Park and Franklin Park’s William Devine Golf Course Clubhouse at 1 Circuit Drive in Dorchester. Held in July and August, the Golf Course Concert Series is part of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department’s year-round ParkARTS program. All shows are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. You can check out the schedule here! 

Show some love for Dorchester Little League

For the first time in Dorchester Little League history, the 12U All-Star team is heading to Cooperstown, New York, to compete in a prestigious tournament at the All-Star Village from August 17th-23rd.  The team is hoping to raise $13,000 for this trip!  A special fundraiser will be held on Friday, July 10th at 7:30pm at The Dot Tavern featuring raffles and local celebrity bartenders!

Happy 2nd Birthday Lazy Bear Creamery

For two years, Lazy Bear Creamery has been open in the neighborhood! This wildly popular ice cream shop features over 4o flavors ranging from vanilla and chocolate chip to more adventurous flavors like Rain Forest Crunch and Salty Sloth! Lazy Bear also features dairy-free options in ices and sherbets! In addition to their house-made caramel sauce and Nana Peach’s hot fudge, Lazy Bear sell homemade cookies and brownies to go with your ice cream.  Stop by and wish them a happy birthday this week!

The Dorchester Historical Society and the Columbia Savin Hill Civic Association is offering a special walking tour of the historic James Blake House and Environs on Saturday, July 12th from 10am-12pm led by Earl Taylor, President of the Dorchester Historical Society.  You can learn more here. 

Return of the Ashmont Friday Market

The kickoff of the 17th Annual Ashmont Friday Market — a vibrant neighborhood tradition bringing together the best of Dorchester and beyond will take place on Friday, July 11th from 2pm-6pm!  This weekly open-air market features fresh produce, specialty prepared foods, local crafts, food trucks, and live music to kick off your weekend.
