BFD was called to Edson Street in Dorchester for a fire on Saturday around 6:30pm. Heavy smoke was showing, and a fourth alarm was ordered.
The fire caused the rear porches to collapse and melted the siding on adjacent houses before it was knocked down. A cat was killed in the fire, and 19 people are now displaced.
A Boston firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Earlier this week there was another fire in Dorchester on Carson Street.
