BFD responded to a call for a fire on Wednesday around 2:45 pm. Heavy smoke and flames were showing at an occupied two-and-a-half-story building at 258 Normandy St.  A 3rd alarm was called.

Boston Fire reported a Mayday was ordered for a firefighter who was temporarily trapped on the roof with fire all around in multiple locations. The firefighter was able to escape thanks to an extended ladder that was thrown to the roof.

The fire was eventually knocked down, and companies are overhauling and rehabbing.
