3-Alarm Fire in Dorchester Early Sunday Morning

BFD responded to a call around 4:45am at a 6-family home located 378 Center Street in Dorchester. The fire started on the rear porch and extended to another 6-family next door. A third alarm was quickly ordered. The rear porches collapsed, and firefighters were able to knock down the fire.
One firefighter and one resident were transported to a local hospital. Over thirty residents have been displaced and firefighters were able to rescue multiple cats. Dames are estimated at over $600,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Shortly after this fire began, another multiple-alarm fire happened in Mattapan at 39 Baird Street. 11 people were displaced. No injuries reported, and this fire is being investigated.
