At about 7:55 pm on Monday, September 19, 2022, Officers assigned to District C-11(Dorchester) conducted a traffic stop in the area of Lithgow Street and Talbot Avenue in Dorchester and made an on-site arrest of Joseph Williams-Crawford, 21, of Dorchester, and a 16-year-old juvenile male of Dorchester on firearm-related charges.
Officers responded to the area of Bullard Street for a large fight. Upon arrival, officers observed a motor vehicle that appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed , leaving the Bullard Street area. Officers additionally observed the vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign as it fled the area.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and made several observations that led them to believe that the vehicle’s occupants may be in possession of a firearm. Officers noted that both the juvenile male and Crawford appeared to be attempting to conceal objects in his waistband area. Officers removed Crawford from the vehicle, and while conducting a pat frisk, officers felt an object in his waistband consistent with a firearm. As officers attempted to secure Crawford, he began to actively resist officers, pulling away from officers’ grasp and reaching towards his waistband toward the firearm in his waistband. Officers were able to take Crawford into custody without further incident.
Simultaneous to Crawford’s arrest, officers began to try to secure the juvenile male in handcuffs. The juvenile male also actively resisted officers; during the struggle, a firearm fell from the front pocket area of his clothing. Officers were able to place the male into custody without incident.
The firearm recovered from Williams Crawford was determined to be a P80 Polymer 9mm loaded with one (1) 9mm round in the chamber and seven (7) rounds in the magazine.
The firearm recovered from the juvenile male was determined to be a P80 Polymer 9mm with one (1) round in the chamber and fourteen (14) rounds inserted in the magazine.
The 16-year-old juvenile male is to be arraigned in Dorchester Juvenile Court and is to be charged with delinquent to wit: Carrying a loaded firearm, Unlawful possession of a firearm, Possession of ammunition, Possession of a large capacity feeding device, and resisting arrest.
Joseph Williams-Crawford is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Carrying a loaded firearm, Unlawful Possession of a firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and resisting arrest.
