At about 9:00 PM, on October 28, 2023, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an on-site firearm arrest of a 15-year-old juvenile male.
Officers were responding to the area of 94 Topliff Street to assist officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) who were responding to a shot spotter activation. Officers broadcasted a description of possible suspects fleeing the area.
Officers observed a moped occupied by two individuals matching the suspects’ description and not wearing any safety equipment or helmets. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.
The operator refused to stop, and officers observed the passenger to be adjusting an unknown object in his waistband area. Officers were able to safely stop the moped, and both suspects immediately fled from the scene. A foot pursuit ensued and officers were able to stop both of the suspects.
Officers conducted a pat frisk of both suspects, and recovered a firearm from the waistband of the 15-year-old. The firearm was later determined to be in the Ghost gun.
The 15-year-old juvenile male was placed under arrest and charged with: Delinquent to wit unlawful possession of a firearm. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
The other individual will receive a summons for violation of auto laws. He was promptly released from the scene.
