At about 4:16 PM, on Sunday, August 11, 2024, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested a 15-year-old juvenile male for armed robbery.
Officers responded to the area of 86 Southern Avenue for a report of a robbery in progress. Upon arrival, officers were advised that a group of individuals attempted to take the victim’s moped. One of the suspects was grabbing at his waistband, which made the victim believe that he was armed. The suspect stole her moped and drove a short distance before crashing. A second suspect stole the victim’s bag.
Officers canvassed the area and observed the group fleeing down Southern Avenue. One of the suspects was clutching his waistband as he ran to the rear of 60 Southern Avenue. Officers exited their cruiser and ran after the suspect. Officers observed the juvenile male throw an unknown item over the fence. Officers were able to place the suspect into handcuffs, and recovered a discarded large kitchen knife.
The 15-year-old juvenile male was placed under arrest and charged with Delinquent to wit; Armed Robbery. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
