At about 6:55 PM, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested a 14-year-old juvenile male on firearm charges.
Officers were monitoring an event at Harambee Park between New England Avenue and Blue Hill Avenue. Officers observed a young male clenching a fanny pack underneath his left arm. As officers approached the male, he attempted to evade officers and walk into a crowd. Officers lost sight of the male, and then observed him sitting on a ledge with a group of individuals.
The officers approached the suspect for a second time, and observed him to be clenching the fanny pack tighter to his body. Officers requested the suspect to stand up in order to conduct a pat frisk. After further investigation, officers recovered a firearm from the bag. The firearm was later determined to be a Smith and Wesson with one round in the chamber and twelve rounds in the magazine. The firearm’s serial number was also removed.
The 14-year-old juvenile male was placed under arrest and charged with delinquent to wit; unlawful possession of a firearm, delinquent to wit; unlawful possession of ammunition, delinquent to wit; unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and defacement of a firearm serial number. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
