From BPD News:

At about 12:36 AM on Sunday, May 16, 2021, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress at 730 Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester (7-Eleven).

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a witness who stated that the suspect, later identified as Paul Desmond, 38, of Weymouth, lunged over the counter and attempted to take money out of the register when it opened.

Officers observed surveillance footage that showed Desmond lunging over the counter and grabbing the register. Desmond was unable to obtain money as a bystander and off-duty security guard physically restrained him until units from C-11 arrived on scene.

Paul Desmond was arrested and charged with Attempted Larceny and Disorderly Conduct. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
