Old School Dot
Back in 2018, The Dot Tavern closed its doors. Dorchester resident and developer Doug George bought the building that houses the old school bar on the ground level and completely renovated the building. One of George’s goals was to find a restaurant/bar operator to take over the bar. Well, just a few weeks ago, The Dot Tavern reopened!
Although the pool tables are gone, and the interior has been updated, it still has a very old-school “dive bar” feel. For now, they will be open Friday – Sunday. They also announced via social media they’ll be hosting a Super Bowl Party this year! You can learn more here!
The Dot Tavern is located at 840 Dorchester Ave.

Can they pour guinness properly? In the late 80’s the bartender told me people complained that she was pouring it too slow as she served you half a glass of foam. Boston’s FASTEST pour was the award on the wall behind the bar. Not sure if she was trying to weed people out. Around 10-15 years later, while wondering what she just put in front of me, she told me the same thing and that reminded me that I had heard that before. I’ve never been back since. Maybe I’ll give it a try.
