Irish Pastoral Center’s Annual Celebration

IPC Boston is hosting its annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Friday from 11am to 3pm at Florian Hall in Dorchester. The event will feature a mass, a blessing of shamrocks and a corned beef dinner followed by Irish music and dancing. Tickets are $30 and pre-registration is required.

Irish Comedy Show

Stand-up comedian “Big Irish” Jay Hollingsworth is taking the stage at Laugh Boston for three shows this weekend. With over 100 million views online, his “charmingly brutal” style earned him first place in the March Comedy Madness Competition. Tickets are $33 with shows at 7pm Friday, as well as 7pm and 10pm on Saturday.

Irish Step Dancers at The Harp + Bard

The H+B’s week-long St. Paddy’s celebrations continue this weekend with a performance by the Clann Lir Academy Irish step dancers at 6:30pm Friday, and Woods School of Irish Dance on Saturday at 4:30pm. Dairy Freeze Opening Weekend

Dairy Freeze, a Quincy favorite treat stop, officially opens for the season this Friday! Make a stop for one of their famous hot fudge sundaes, or get a taste of some favorite summer foods like fried fish, burgers and fries and more.

Savin Hillbillies at Tavalo

If the traditional corned beef and shepherd’s pie aren’t quite your cravings this weekend, you can enjoy a delicious meal at Tavolo and still get a taste of the Irish spirit. Legendary Dorchester band the Savin Hillbillies will be playing Irish music on Saturday evening starting at 8:30pm.

St. Patrick’s Day at the JFK Museum

Enjoy a family-friendly celebration of St. Patrick’s Day at the JFK Presidential Library and Museum on Saturday from 10:30am to 11:30am. Performers from the Greene-O’Leary School of Irish Dance will demonstrate their athleticism, skill, and poise while presenting traditional and contemporary styles of Irish dance. Tickets are free but advance registration is required.

Historical Open Houses

The Dorchester Historical Society invites the community to add a bit of history to your St. Patrick’s Day fun. The William Clapp House, 195 Boston Street, and the James Blake House, 735 Columbia Road, will be open for tours Sunday from 11am to 3pm. The organization is also hosting a community meeting on the future of Franklin Park on Saturday at 1pm at the Grove Hall branch library.

St. Paddy’s at The Eire

Of all the local Irish pubs you can choose to celebrate at this weekend, The Eire – a Dorchester fixture for over 50 years – should be on your list. Grab a pint of Guinness and enjoy a special performance by the Boston Police Gaelic Column at 5pm on Sunday.

Tune In – It’s the St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast

The annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast hosted by Sen. Nick Collins will take place at the Ironworkers Local 7 Union Hall in South Boston on the morning of Sunday, March 17th. Featured guests include U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, Governor Maura Healey, Congressman Stephen Lynch, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Senate President Karen Spilka, Auditor Diana Dizoglio and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu. They will be joined at the dais by Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden, Boston City Councilors Ed Flynn and Erin Murphy, State Representative David Biele and US Naval Commander Chance Smith of the USS Truxton (DDG 103). Caught in Southie will be on hand with some color commentary! Learn more here! 

St. Patrick’s Day Parade is Sunday!
