Despite what the earlier sunsets and back to school photos might make us think, we still have a few weeks until the official end of summer. There’s plenty to see and do around Dot this weekend to make the most of it. Let’s hope the rain holds off.
Stop in for Sushi
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar – a much-anticipated addition to South Bay shopping center – has finally opened its doors. If sushi isn’t your thing, you can still chow down on some authentic Japanese cuisine, including soup, noodles, dumplings and much more. They’re open 11am until 10pm on Friday and Saturday, and until 9:30pm during the week.
Pleasant St. Community Day
Join your Dot neighbors on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 11am to 6pm for a free community event. The family-friendly fun takes place on Pleasant St. between Stoughton Street and Trescott Street (near Dora Taqueria) and will feature free food, games, a bounce house and more.
Boston Arts Festival
The annual event returns to Christopher Columbus Park on Boston Harbor this Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm and takes place rain or shine. Stop by to explore and shop a variety of original items including paintings, photography, ceramics and jewelry. The event also includes a variety of musical performances throughout the weekend.
Free Health Events
CommUnity Cares Health is partnering with local health systems to provide free healthcare services, screenings and information at Harambee Park on Saturday from 12pm to 7:30pm. The More Life Fest is not just another health fair – there will also be a live DJ, local business vendors, food and prizes. On Sunday, Mass Health Connector will host a back to school skate party at Chez-Vous featuring free skating and information about getting enrolled in health insurance.
Savin Hill Yard Sale Day
The annual neighborhood-wide yard sale in Savin Hill returns Saturday, Sept. 9 from 9am to 2pm. Get your steps in as you explore the dozens of sales around Savin Hill Ave. and beyond. It’s a great way to furnish that newly leased apartment. Rain date is Sept. 16.
Bar Mezzana & Yellow Door Block Party
You don’t have to choose between oysters and tacos. Head over to the South End for a block party on Sunday, Sept. 10 from 2pm to 6pm for plenty of delicious food, drinks, treats, music and more. Admission is $95 and includes two drinks tickets.
Trung Thu Festival + Night Market
Football Returns
Week one of NFL football is underway with plenty of games to catch this weekend, including the Patriots vs. the Eagles on Sunday. If you’re not heading down to Gillette, catch the action at one of our favorite Dot pubs like the Harp and Bard, the Bowery or Landmark. The Pearl is also hosting a VIP Cigar and Tailgate Party on Sunday afternoon.
Boston Seafood Festival
The Seaport will be bustling even more than usual this Sunday from 11am to 6pm for this annual event featuring chef demonstrations, an oyster shucking competition and of course, plenty of seafood to go around. Some areas of the event are free and open to the public, while others require an admission ticket. Get the details here.
