Savin Hill Community Picnic

Neighbors, family and friends are all invited to join the third annual Savin Hill Community Picnic this Saturday from 12pm to 4pm at Pattens Cove in Dorchester. Hosted by the Columbia Savin Hill Civic Association, the free event will feature food, games and more. Live music will be performed by the Savin HillBillies and Sand Machine. There will also be raffles for a chance to win a variety of prizes from local Dorchester establishments as well as art from local artist James Hobin.

Restorative Sound Bath

Open Doors Yoga Studios welcomes guests to their Dorchester location for a special restorative practice and sound bath on Saturday from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Join instructors Courtney and Checka for a melodic sound bath and restorative practice that will enliven all of your senses to embrace the changing seasons and help balance your energy to support your transition in the fall. Tickets are $45 at the door.

Mocktail Tasting

Roxbury Sips offers a sophisticated evening of mocktail tastings taking place this Saturday from 4pm to 8pm in Nubian Square. The event is an educational tasting that will feature a local Mixologist offering innovative mocktails you can make at home using fresh and local ingredients. There will also be Deep House Music by DJ Christopher Martin Grant, as well as a chef demonstration showcasing tasty bites from Haley House. The free event is part of the City of Boston’s Community Canvas Series presented by the Office of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion.

Free Ballet Classes

José Mateo Ballet Theatre is hosting an open house event and offering free trial classes for young dancers ages 3-10. Come learn more about the school and how the program is the right choice for your young dancer this Saturday from 9am to 2pm at the studio at 14 Cushing Ave. in Uphams Corner. Admission is free but advance registration is required.

Scobie’s, Dorchester’s newest Irish pub, now has live Irish Sessions on the weekends!

Evening Birdwalk at Franklin Park

The Franklin Park Coalition presents and evening birdwalk  at Franklin Park with Nature Man Mike.  Meet at the tennis oucrs next to the Shattuck Picnic Gove  for an evening of birding on Friday, September 20th from 4pm-6pm.

DotArt New Classes + Fundraiser

After a very successful summer, DotArt has recently announced some new programming for autumn. DotArt’s new lead teacher, Annette McCarty, will lead a series of Saturday Studio classes for kids, tweens, and teens out of our Walter Baker space in Lower Mills this fall. Also on the schedule? Adult classes!  Enjoy adult drawing on Tuesday evenings and adult painting on Thursday evenings.  Get all the details here! 

Dot Tavern now has bar pizza

Listen up! The Dot Tavern just announced that they now serve bar pizza!  Cheese pizza are only $10!  Pepperoni, sausage, peppers, onions, mushroom and bacon are an addition $1 each! Get the details. 

DBCo Oktoberfest Part 2

The second installment of Dorchester Brewing Company’s Oktoberfest party returns this Saturday with celebrations kicking off at 11:30am. Enjoy pours of German beers, exclusive event flights and food specials including pretzels, bratwurst and giant turkey legs from M&M BBQ. There will also be an official Steinholding Competition presented by the US Steinholding Association (registration required), as well as a brat eating contest and much more. Don’t be a brat, come to the wurst party at DBCo!
