Textiles Untangled: Zero Waste Workshop

Textiles are everywhere! They’re In our clothing, furniture, toys and even computers. But what exactly are textiles made from? How far do clothes travel before we buy them? Join the Hyde Park Branch Library and Boston’s Zero Waste Team on Saturday from 10am to 12:30pm as they guide participants through an interactive workshop to discover the lifecycle of a piece of clothing. Noche Latina at Ashmont Friday Market

Ashmont Friday Market takes place on Friday in Peabody Square from 2pm-6pm.  Enjoy live music, fresh produce, prepared foods, and activities for all ages!  This fun neighborhood event takes place at the Ashmont MBTA Plaza. Plus Noche Latina Dance will be showing off their skills this Friday!

Evening Birdwalk at Franklin Park

The Franklin Park Coalition presents and evening birdwalk at Franklin Park with Nature Man Mike.  Meet at the tennis courts next to the Shattuck Picnic Gove  for an evening of birding on Saturday, October 5th from 4pm-6pm. Rainbow Art at The Local Hand

Corita Kent’s iconic Rainbow Swash along I-93 in Dorchester is one of Boston’s most recognizable landmarks. This Sunday from 2pm to 4pm, The Local Hand is hosting a special workshop to inspire participants to create their own miniature interpretations of Kent’s iconic work using reclaimed materials. Through this hands-on art project participants will explore themes of sustainability, creativity, and social justice while learning about the history and significance of Kent’s artwork. Tickets are $40.
