Dotini! A Night Out for Dot

This Saturday join Fields Corner Main Street at Blend for an exciting night celebrating 20 years of friendship, small business support, art and fun in the neighborhood. Join the fun from 6:30 pm to 9pm and enjoy delicious food, drinks, music, raffles and networking in the community. Tickets are $50 per person and all proceeds benefit the Fields Corner neighborhood nonprofit.

ALTARS, The Live Experience

This Friday, immerse yourself in an evening of artistic expression at ALTARS, The Live Experience taking place from 7 pm to 9 pm at Hibernian Hall in Roxbury. The event will feature performances by exceptional Boston-based artists, including Season 6 winner of “So You Think You Can Dance” Russell Gutta Fergusson, Boston Ballet dancer and US Presidential Scholar in the Arts My’Kal Stromile, Boston’s first Youth Poet Laureate Alondra Bobadilla, GRAMMY-Nominated multi-instrumentalist Phillip Young, and Brazilian dance ensemble SambaViva. There will also be a screening of Mariona Lloreta’s short film ALTARS, followed by a Q&A with the evening’s performers and film cast. The event is free but advance registration is required and space is limited.

Oldies Party at Aspirers

Head over to Aspirers in Dorchester for a night of fun and nostalgia! This Friday night oldies party is the perfect way to enjoy some classic reggae and soca tunes. Dance the night away from 10 pm to 2 am and make new memories with old music by some of Boston’s top veteran DJs. Tickets are $20 per person.

Thanksgiving Cook-Off

Get Lit is a literacy program for kids and teens featured monthly at the Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library. This Saturday the group invites the community to join them at Florian Hall in Dorchester for a fundraiser and afternoon of laughter and delicious food from 11 am to 4 pm. The group’s talented chefs will battle it out in a Thanksgiving cook-off while comedians roast special guests for your entertainment. There will also be a cupcake contest and bake-off as well as the battle for the crown of Best Young City Chef, which comes with a $500 cash prize.

Lives are Meant to Be Changed Gala

Lives Are Meant to Be Changed is a Dorchester-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals facing the challenges of substance abuse, mental health issues, and societal reintegration by providing access to essential services and resources. The group is hosting its inaugural fundraising gala on Sunday from 4 pm to 8 pm at Venezia, featuring an evening of enlightenment, networking, and a delicious three-course meal. Tickets are $125 and proceeds help to support the mission including providing food, clothing and access to housing and employment resources.

Hot Diggity Dog

In celebration of a successful season, Sullivan’s is offering half-price hot dogs until closing day, December 1st! You might as well get two, right? We’ll take ours “all around!” What other menu standouts will we miss on Sully’s hiatus? Fried clams, Lime Rickeys, lobster roll, and french fries!

All-Levels Dance Class

Groovement is an Afrocentric, QTBIPOC-friendly, liberation-focused, hate-free, pro-love movement that is popping up in Roxbury this weekend. Come groove at Madhouse Motors on Sunday from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. All ages and skill levels are welcome. The class will span a variety of music genres including Afro and soulful house, Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, jazz, reggae, and more. Sweats or other danceable clothes and sneakers are suggested. Tickets are $18 per person.
