Dorchester Liaison Coffee Hours

Do you have a question about your Dot community? Want more information about City departments or help addressing a neighborhood concern? Ross Cochran, Dorchester Liaison of the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services, hosts weekly coffee hours as a chance to connect with and hear from local residents. Stop by and say hello to Ross this Friday at Greenhills Bakery from 9am to 10am.

Celebrate Spring at Sullivans

A sure sign of spring’s return is the reopening of Sullivan’s on Castle Island, which will start welcoming guests for the season on Saturday. Be sure to stop by and reward yourself for making it to the weekend than with a delicious hot dog from Sully’s!

Chef-in-Residence Meet & Greet

Boston Public Library’s very first Chef-in-Residence is hosting a series of community listening sessions, with the first one taking place this Saturday, March 2 from 11am to 1pm. Stop by the Nutrition Lab at the Roxbury branch library to meet Chef Glorya Fernandez, learn more about upcoming programs, and share, listen and inspire conversations about nutritional literacy.

Revolutionary Women Tours

Kick-off Women’s History Month with a chance to learn more about the women who played a role in the American Revolution. On select weekends in March, the Freedom Trail Foundation is offering a special look at the history of women like Ann Hutchinson, Abigail Adams, Harriet Tubman and Susan B. Anthony. The first of the 90 minute tours will take place this Saturday and Sunday at 10:45 am starting at the Boston Common Visitor Information Center. Tickets are $17.

Kids’ Art Workshops

Children’s librarian Sherry Eskin is hosting two kid-friendly art workshops this Saturday at the Local Hand. Ignite your child’s creativity, engage their playful side and make a mess outside of your house! The first class starts at 10am and focuses on painting with non-traditional materials geared toward toddlers aged 1-3. A second workshop on kids’ spin art will take place at 11:15 am for kids 4-8 years old. Tickets for each workshop are $30 but a discount is available if you bring a friend or sibling.

Sam Adams 40th Anniversary Festival

Celebrate 40 years of craft beer at Sam’s anniversary bash this Saturday from 12pm to 5pm at their brewery in Jamaica Plain. The event will feature live music, VIP brewers sessions, local food pop-ups and of course, plenty of beer to go around! Super fan tours with founder Jim Koch are also available for those who want to share a pint while hearing more about the history of the Boston Beer Company and its evolution. The festival will also include samples of throwback beers, seasonals and new special releases. Tickets range from $40-$100.

Low-Cost Dog Licensing Clinic

The Animal Rescue League of Boston is teaming up with the City of Boston to provide low-cost rabies vaccines and dog licenses this Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm at ARL’s Boston location in the South End. Boston residents can get their dog licensed for $15 for spayed and neutered pets, and rabies vaccines are just $5. There is no charge for city residents over age 70 to license their pets. This clinic is first come, first served. No appointments are needed but space is limited.

Beyoncé vs. Lady Gaga Drag Brunch

Head to Blend this Sunday for an iconic drag brunch featuring the greatest hits of Beyoncé and Lady Gaga. Two of Boston’s fiercest queens, Kori King and Lilly Rose Valore, will take the stage from 11 am to 3pm. Reservations are strongly recommended and limited seating remains.

Return of The Ice Creamsmith

For over 40 years, The Ice Creamsmith in Lower Mills has been churning out delicious made-from-scratch ice cream!  Making their ice cream in small batches on-site – (it goes from production to scoop in as little as 24 hours), the Ice Creamsmith has been delighting generations with their sweet treats!  It will open for its 48th season on March 1st!

Sankofa at the Strand

Andrea Major and the Roxbury Center for the Performing Arts take the stage at The Strand Theater this weekend for a soul-stirring performance of Sankofa. The live performance chronicles the stories of the struggle, resilience and triumph of Black people. Tickets are $35 with shows at 2pm and 7pm on Saturday, and 3pm on Sunday.
