Mosaic Class

The Lower Mills Branch of the Boston Public Library is hosting a six-part workshop series on how to create your own original mosaic sculpture for a tabletop or yard out of household materials. The workshop series begins this Friday from 10am to 11:30am where participants will learn to sculpt and create a mosaic with glass and ceramic tiles, and finish with grout to secure their creation. The events are free but registration is required.

Free Walking Group

Lace up your tennis shoes and get ready to get your steps in at this free walking fitness class led by Brandy from Just Walk Boston. The group will meet in front of the Golf Club House at Franklin Park in Dorchester on Saturday from 8am to 9am for a walking workout designed to invigorate the body and mind. The program is part of the Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series which offers free workouts in parks throughout Boston that are open to all fitness levels.

Boston Arts + Music Soul Festival

Pop-Up Bike Repair

Does your bike need a little TLC? Bikes Not Bombs is bringing its Chain Reaction mobile bike repair services back to the Dorchester Food Coop this Saturday from 11am to 1pm. Skilled staff and youth apprentices will be onsite to offer free bike check-ups focused on the basics of the bike’s air, brakes and chain are all properly adjusted. Full tune-ups are not offered on the spot, but the free adjustments include professional advice and estimates for larger repairs.

Candle Making Class

Head to Boston Harbor Distillery for a fun and creative afternoon of candle making on Saturday from 2:30pm to 4pm where guests will learn how to craft their very own custom soy candles from Salt and Branch. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, this event is perfect for anyone looking to unleash their creativity. Tickets are $45 per person and all candles are all natural soy wax and use phthalate-free fragrance oils.

PorchFest Quincy

The annual PorchFest Quincy event is back for an 8th year and includes more than 100 different bands who will perform music across porches in the Merrymount, Squantum and Wollaston neighborhoods. The free festival, which takes place on Saturday from 3pm to 9pm, celebrates local artists and fosters a sense of community through the shared experience of music. Local food vendors will also be on hand, as well as sales of beer and wine in designated areas.

Cool off with some delicious summer cocktails and frozen drinks at Yellow Door! 

Get Moving – Free Summer Fitness Series

The series offers a wide range of classes, including Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Chair Yoga, HIIT,  ZUMBA®, Family ZUMBA®, Kick It By Eliza®, Afrobeats Dance, Walking Group, Strength Training and Conditioning, and Salsa Dance. The program is tailored to the interests of residents and participants, including age-friendly classes for families, older adults, and those new to fitness classes.
