Rhymes & Romance at The Mix

It’s speed dating with a poetic twist! Join in for a night of poetry, therapy and love vibes with Coach LA at Poe-therapy 13: Rhymes & Romance. The special evening takes place Friday from 6:45pm to 9:30 pm at The Mix on Talbot Ave. Co-hosted by the Dating Reset Podcast & Coach LA, it promises to be a therapeutic experience filled with positive vibes and dating fun. If you’re passionate about poetry and mental health, this gathering is for you! Tickets start at $35 with VIP packages available.

Ashmont Friday Market

Greater Ashmont Main Street founded the Ashmont Friday Market (originally the Ashmont Farmers Market) in 2008. Since then, the Market has become a beloved Dorchester Institution each Friday in Peabody Square from 2pm-6pm.  Enjoy live music, fresh produce, prepared foods, activities for all ages!  This fun neighborhood event takes place at the Ashmont MBTA Plaza.

Team Project D.E.E.P. Fundraiser for Rodman Ride

The Dorchester Educational Enrichment Program is hosting a fundraiser at Landmark Public House in Adams Village this Friday from 8pm to 11:30pm. The group is planning a great fun-filled night with local comedians, raffles, food and a DJ. In addition, MSP Hockey will have a table selling merchandise. Tickets are $20 and proceeds will go to the D.E.E.P. team, who plans to complete the Rodman Race in September. Money raised will lead to further funding of many familiar youth programs.

Kidsfest at The LOT

Bring the whole family down to The LOT for Kidsfest! On the Dot® is hosting Kidsfest on July 27th from 12-5PM. The event is located at 383 Dorchester Ave. and is free for all attendees; everyone is welcome! There will be a variety of fun activities lined up for the day! Bounce around in the jumpy house and get your face painted with whatever your heart desires. Enjoy balloon art and play at the fun carnival games. Take a ride on the train through The LOT and explore science experiments with Outside of the Box Learning Company. Codman Square Caribbean Jerk Festival

The 6th Annual Codman Square Caribbean Jerk Festival highlights the cultural contributions that community members hailing from the Caribbean Islands have made to the Codman Square commercial corridor, and beyond. The family-friendly event takes place on Saturday at Second Church on Moultrie Street from 1pm to 5pm. Sample delectable juicy jerk chicken, vegetarian options, and many other bites from award-winning Dorchester Restaurants. Stay for the Caribbean-inspired kids’ activities, live DJ, and steel drum orchestra performance, and support the many local merchants and community organizations participating throughout the district.

Daddy & Me Beach Storytime

Come picnic and read with friends from the Daddy and Me Literacy Program at a special beach storytime event this Sunday at Tenean Beach behind Boston Bowl. The event will take place from 12pm to 2pm and targets children ages 3-7, but all are welcomed. The mission of the Daddy and Me Literacy Program is to instill the love of reading in young ones, and to encourage fellowship amongst men and dads of color.

Monthly Bear Tea at DBCo

Bear Tea returns to DBCo this Sunday from 4pm to 8pm featuring Inspector Disco DJing and all the beer, hard seltzer, hard cider, hard slushies, and wine that fit into your Sunday afternoon. This is an open, inclusive gay-friendly and 21+ event. No tickets are needed and there is no cover charge to attend.

Bringing farm produce to the neighborhood!

The Codman Square Farmers Market is back!  Featuring fresh vegetables, fruits, meats, eggs, and more, the Codman Square Farmers Market is a weekly event at Loesch Family Park on Saturdays from 11am-2pm.  In addition to produce, there are other vendors like Cles Cuddly Creations, Bling + Beauty, and Lisa Graustein Ceramics.  Plus, there will be live music, family fun, kids activities, and more! Stop by!

Free Summer Fitness Bootcamp

This free summer bootcamp is designed to develop muscular strength, increase endurance and improve agility. The 45-minute routine led by Coach Trevor is a total body workout. The class takes place on Sunday from 9am to 10am at Iacono Playground in Dorchester. No equipment is needed but don’t forget your water!
