T-Shirt Quilt Workshop

Do you have a pile of old t-shirts taking up space in the dresser, but you’re not ready to part ways with them because of their sentimental value? This Saturday, Stitch House will host a t-shirt quilting workshop from 1pm to 4pm to turn those shirts into a beautiful keepsake. Guests should bring 20-30 t-shirts and should have basic sewing experience, but help will be available. Tickets are $100 and include two sessions, plus backing material and final touches.

Ashmont Friday Market

Greater Ashmont Main Street founded the Ashmont Friday Market (originally the Ashmont Farmers Market) in 2008. Since then, the Market has become a beloved Dorchester Institution each Friday in Peabody Square!  The first one of the season is Friday, July 12th from 2pm-6pm.  Enjoy live music, fresh produce, prepared foods, activities for all ages!  This fun neighborhood event takes place at the Ashmont MBTA Plaza.

Saturday Funday at The Mix

Why wait until Sunday to enjoy an outdoor patio in the afternoon? The Mix is hosting the return of the “Safternoon” backyard party events this Saturday from 2pm to 6pm featuring good food, vibes and music. Your friend’s backyard BBQ can’t compare to one of the best outdoor parties in Boston! General admission tickets are $20 and include complimentary food while supplies last.

Infant Lifesaving and CPR Class

Parents, caregivers and anyone interested in learning critical emergency response skills are invited to join in this hands-on course in life-saving infant CPR and AED techniques. Led by expert instructors certified by the American Heart Association, this class will equip participants with the skills necessary to respond effectively in emergencies and infant-specific techniques. The course takes place Saturday at 8:30am and registration is $59.95 per person. Participants will leave with a same-day AHA CPR certification.

Brew at the Zoo

The Franklin Park Zoo has teamed up with some of New England’s best breweries to create a one-of-a-kind tasting experience. The zoo will be open for a special beer festival this Saturday from 5pm to 7:30pm where guests can savor the flavors while visiting with the animals after hours. From hoppy IPAs to smooth stouts, there’s something for everyone. In addition, zoo educators will be roaming the grounds to share wildlife facts and introduce special animal ambassadors. Tickets are $75 per person in advance or $80 at the door.

The Second Annual Boston Harbor Ladies Sailing Challenge will be held on July 14th at Savin Hill Yacht Club. The ticket price includes live music, lunch, a fashion show from Mustang Survival Life Jackets, giveaways, and more. Plus, there will be prizes for the winning boats! Boston Little Saigon Night Market

Boston Little Saigon’s 3rd Annual Chợ Đêm at Field’s Corner takes place this weekend! Enjoy an unforgettable evening of entertainment, games, street foods and Instagram-worthy moments while experiencing the vibrant culture of Dorchester. The night market will be open on Saturday from 4pm to 9:30pm at Town Field Park in Dorchester. Don’t miss some of the best street food and vendors that Boston has to offer!

Country Fest at The LOT

Saddle up for Country Fest at The LOT this Sunday, June 14th from 2-8pm. Pull on your best boots and enjoy line dancing with Blackout Country Dancing to live music by Vincent King. Pony rides will be available for kids all day long, and bull riding will be available for those who may want a little challenge! Throughout the day, there will also be face painting, balloon art, and airbrush tattoos for attendees to enjoy at no cost. There will be food, drinks, and more! You can learn more here!

    Thank you so much Angela for caught in DOT update. I recently moved back to Dorchester and now trying to find my way around. The community, has changed so much in the 7 years Ithat ‘I’ve been away. I really appreciate you taking the time to layout the events happening right in our community. It is nice to know, I don’t have to travel too far to have an enjoyable time close to home, without the hassle of traveling.
