Neighborhood Winter Bike Ride

The City of Boston’s free family-friendly fitness programming continues this weekend with a winter neighborhood bike ride in Dorchester and Roxbury this Saturday at 11am. The event will feature options for riders to join a full route (six miles) or half route (three miles), and includes free hot chocolate. Riders are encouraged to pre-register and dress warmly. Orchid Adventure Opening at the Zoo

Zoo New England is bringing its brand new immersive experience to Franklin Park Zoo starting this weekend. Take a trip through the tropics and enjoy breathtaking views at this botanical extravaganza featuring hundreds of orchids and exquisite flowers. Be among the first to view the displays at an exclusive preview party taking place Friday evening from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Dumpling Party

Celebrate the Year of the Dragon at a special dumpling wrapping party at the Loring Greenough House Kitchen in Jamaica Plain this Saturday from 10:30am to 1pm. Participants will learn all the steps of how to make two types of dumplings with meat, vegetarian and vegan options available. Beginner Pottery Class

The Local Hand’s upcoming art class will cover the basics of simple pottery techniques and surface design to teach you how to create beautiful ceramic trays and dishes. No experience is necessary for this beginner workshop which takes place Saturday from 1pm to 4pm. Participants will make up to three different pieces and can enjoy light refreshments at the workshop, as well as 10% off any shopping purchases during the event.

Annual Ukrainian Winter Ball

Ukraine Forward and the Ukrainian American Education Center of Boston are hosting their annual Malanka fundraiser this Saturday evening from 6:30pm to 11:30pm at Venezia in Dorchester. The event will feature food, zabava-style dancing and fun to help provide vital aid to Ukrainian lives impacted by the war.

Saturday Night Live

Looking for more of a night in? Dorchester’s own Ayo Edebiri is hosting Saturday Night Live this week. Edebiri recently won the Emmy for Best Performance by an Actress in a Comedy Series in addition to a Golden Globe for her role as Sydney on The Bear. Tune in as she joins musical guest JLo live on the show starting at 11:30pm Saturday. 

Concert at the Crane

Step inside the beautiful historic Richardson Building at the Thomas Crane Public Library in Quincy to be serenaded by a live performance of traditional Irish music this Sunday from 3pm to 4pm. Golden Lane will perform a variety of Irish dance music in both English and Gaelic with opportunities for audience interaction and plenty of family-friendly fun. Admission is free but space is limited. 

Bald Eagle Nature Walk

Bundle up for a fun outdoor educational walk with a Boston Nature Center teacher to explore the Neponset River Reservation in search of our national bird, the Bald Eagle. This free event takes place Sunday from 10am to 12pm and is suggested for children ages 10 and over. 

Sip and Shop

If you’re feeling lost without any football to watch this Sunday, Blasi’s has you covered. This Dot favorite is hosting another sip and shop event featuring local vendors and small businesses. Stop in on Sunday from 3-5pm to find something for guys and ladies alike while enjoying some of Blasi’s signature eats and drinks.
