Storytelling Open Mic Night

Enjoy another great night of live, true stories from community members like you at the return of the Now Listen Here event at home.stead bakery and cafe on Friday evening from 7pm to 9:30pm. The theme is stories of “unexpected debt” and anyone interested in sharing a story of their own lived experience is welcome. Stories must be true, told without notes and must be no longer than 5-6 minutes. Tickets are $12 per person.

Cannabis Equity Mixer

Cannabis industry leaders and newcomers alike are invited to come together to celebrate Boston’s growing cannabis community at a networking mixer hosted by Black CannaBusiness on Friday evening. The in-person event will be held at the Mix (formerly Ashmont Grill) from 6pm to 9pm. Admission is free.

Cornhole Tournament

Dorchester’s Crossfit 617 is hosting a cornhole tournament this Saturday from 12:30pm to 4:30pm with proceeds supporting the fundraising efforts of 617 members running this year’s Boston Marathon. The event will feature cash and other prizes for top teams, as well as raffles and other giveaways. The entry fee is $100 per team.

Savin Hill Parks Cleanup

Grab your gloves and join your neighbors for the 40th annual Savin Hill community park clean-up this Saturday from 8:30am to 3pm, hosted by the Columbia-Savin Hill Civic Association. Volunteers are needed at three park locations: Savin Hill Park, Pattens Cove and Wildlife Garden. Some tools and light refreshments will be provided.

Learn to Compost

Do you want to waste less and live more sustainably? The City of Boston is offering a Compost Certificate Program in partnership with the Boston Nature Center in Mattapan. Starting this Saturday, a four-module training course will offer participants practical knowledge, hands-on activities and a chance to hear from guest speakers on the impact of food waste on the environment. This program is free to Boston residents who provide four hours of volunteer time.

Meat Raffle to Support Team MR8

Help support Team MR8 Marathon Team at an old-fashioned Meat Raffle at Landmark on Saturday from 1pm to 3pm. There will be music and a 50/50 raffle in addition to other raffles.

Aidan Leclair Band at Rockwood Music Hall

The Aidan Leclaire Band, known for their captivating blend of indie rock and folk music (Spotify), will follow their performances in Washington DC and New York City with their debut live show at Boston’s renowned Rockwood Music Hall on Saturday, April 6. Bánh Tiêu Making Party

Join Boston Little Saigon for a delightful afternoon of culinary exploration and family bonding at a family Bánh Tiêu making party. This Sunday, families are invited to Bánh & Tea Time at VietAID from 12:30pm to 2pm.
