Love it or hate it, Street cleaning ends November 30th.
Give yourselves a round of applause and pat on the back, Dorchester— we officially made it to the end of street-cleaning season. No more alerts on your phone, no more running outside in pajamas, sprinting to move your car before BTD shows up. At least until April.
So be honest… how’d you do this year?
-
Did you get a ticket?
-
Got towed? (Ouch.)
-
Or did you somehow beat the system and make it through unscathed?
However it went, consider this week a victory. The streets are clean, and parking gets just a tiny bit less stressful for a while.
Congrats, Dot — we survived.
See you in April… when the “fun” starts all over again.

Street cleaning still happens on some street during winter and city does give tickets by mistake during that time. The website notes that no tickets will be give by the city still gave me a ticket for street cleaning in December. I had to spend 6 years in courts fights this ticket that finally got revolved and city had to pay for my lawyer’s fees.
Beware for those that think. Others car drivers should throw trash into trash barrel when clean car rather than tossing trash onto the street since they do not have to clean it. They wants a clean car. I saw a car parked and person toss trash out the window rather than get out of car and take 4-5 steps to get to the trash barrel that was on sidewalk. This is what city should fine $500 or more for these trash throwing car owners.
“The daytime program parking restrictions are not in effect during the months of December and March except in the North End, the South End, and Beacon Hill. There will be no posted street sweeping or program related parking enforcement during the months of January and February.
Mechanical sweepers operate weather-permitting. During the winter, street cleaning and parking restrictions are nighttime-only except in the North End, the South End, and Beacon Hill neighborhoods.”
